The work of Mark Mulroney is blowing me away. Literally.

Stacy Lewis

My friend Stacy Lewis is a wonderful artist and she recently made this work, which I find very beautiful. You can see more of her work here: This Little Art of Mine.

I recently heard about a Canadian artist named Nadia Moss and was looking at some of her work online, it’s really beautiful stuff! I love the way she works with ink in a series that I think she was doing a few years ago . Ethereal and smart! I didn’t realize until a few days ago that I do have some work of hers on my fridge, I didn’t make the connection – it’s an ink drawing in colour that I love looking at everyday and I am happy that it was given to me as a gift.

Art is Somewhat Like Spit

February 1, 2012

Ivan Brunetti is to famous to have his own website, or at least I can’t find it. In any case, Brunetti has been described (by wikipedia) as being noted for combining blackly humorous taboo-laden subject matter with simplified and exaggerated cartoon drawing styles. I wonder if he wrote that himself. He’s a wonderful cartoonist and an all around hilarious personality…on paper. I love to quote him and here are some aphorisms from the man himself:

“Cartoonists are, at heart, doodlers. And the doodle has its own authority, directness and power; it is both primal and sophisticated.”

“Art is somewhat like spit. It does not repulse or even worry us while it is still inside of us, but once it exits our body, it becomes disgusting.”

If you are at all interested in cartooning don’t hesitate to read his book Cartooning: Philosophy and Practice, which was published in 2011.

This page describes Mouse. I was really happy with the composition of this page.

no finer triumph than an excellent copy of nature.” – Charles Baudelaire
